The Beginning…

This family ministry started with outreach programs in different barangays.  In this picture was the soup kitchen arranged in Cavite which was approximately a decade past.

Realizing that a stronger impact can be had with a focused effort, the concept behind Takdang Aralan – a community library where kids and the youth can come together for fun and learning – was formed.

Takdang Aralan is a term inspired by the Tagalog word for homework — takdang aralin.

It is said that it takes a village to raise a child. But what will it take if the task is to raise the next generation?

We asked, and you responded. Thank you to the kind hearts who generously support Takdang Aralan with their time, talent and treasures. When everyone opens his hands (and hearts), there is indeed a lot to go around.

Turn of events pushed us to change location and the clear direction was to put it up in Bicol.

We started building the library  in a community within Camalig, Albay. Baranggay Quirangay is within the 6 km radius of Mayon Volcano.

In June 2013 the youth center formally opened its doors to the children and teachers of the nearest elementary school. Shown in the pictures are the kids along with a DepEd ALS representative and some barangay officials as we explain what Takda can offer them.
